FirewallsOne of the main benefits of CipherPack is that no decryption software is required on the receiving machine. All of the decryption and decompression code is bundled with the archive itself, therefore avoiding problems of having differing releases of software between the sender and the recipient. A problem that arises with this approach is corporate firewalls. Many firewalls are configured not to allow executable files to pass through them. Therefore, these firewalls block CipherPacked files. CipherPack Pro uses non-executable archives to address this issue whilst still ensuring that there cannot be differing releases of software between the sender and recipients. Put simply, the archive is automatically converted from a Windows executable to a non-executable format and saved as a .CPK file type. This non-executable file will pass freely through firewalls. A freeware "Loader" program known as CPKLoad is then required to convert the CPK file back to an executable format and execute the CipherPack decryption and decompression code. The loader program (CPKLoad) contain no encryption or decryption code and will therefore work with all future versions of CipherPack Pro. CPKLOAD can be freely downloaded by clicking here. |
